Picturesque downtown Aspen; both quaint and opulent, it has long been recognized as one of the premier tourist destinations in the country.

The snow-capped mountains are prime for skiing and snowboarding from fall to early spring, while the scenic landscape is perfect to explore by hikers, bikers, and horseback riders all spring and summer. History & Heritage

Inside The Residence every wall tells a story, and the very building itself has been part of the Aspen community for over 130 years. The hotel opened its doors to guests in 1996 after being aesthetically curated by long-time Aspen native, Terry Butler.

With two decades of loyal and distinguished guests that span from entertainers and athletes to artists and politicians, somehow the hotel still maintains a subtle mystique as the city’s hidden gem.

  • Great Service and Location, What Aspen Should Be!!

We thought the place was exactly what "Aspen" should be. It was warm, quaint and friendly. My wife loved all the art and antiquities spread throughout the hotel. The room was large and included a walk-in closet with a beautifully updated bathroom. The staff was absolutely great and always made sure our every need was well tended.

  • Warm Slice of Parisian Heaven

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and were delighted! Terry and her staff were warm and helpful from our first contact throughout the trip. The hotel is a true hidden gem. The French Studio was a perfect slice of Paris, where we were married. The lobby is plush, bright, inviting, "richly appointed" as they say. Terry herself...

  • This is a very unusual property and

We liked it. The rooms are large and the bed was comfortable. The location is stellar but you will have to park your car a distance from the property. But everything you will need is within walking distance (and you need Paradise Bakery!) We were especially impressed with Erin who checked us in. She is awesome. She actually carried our...

Walk up a flight of stairs and find your own private pied a terre in the center of Aspen. No more than two blocks from anything that you could want. • Amazing suites, great history.

We visited in summer to hike rather than ski.. Aspen is obviously lovely in all seasons. The Residence is extremely well located. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants... bit pricey but that is in part due to the value of the Australian dollar. Parking is tight but Terry, the owner provides vouchers for free parking in easy walking distance. Rooms are of different...

  • One of a Kind

Definitely a fun one-of -a kind experience. Great decor, fantastic hosts and within easy walking distance to everything. Eight eclectic rooms/suites with plenty of conversation pieces in each. Our group of 12 had four of the suites and we were able to comfortably gather in the largest. All in all, its a very comfortable place owned and operated by a...

  • Exquisite boutique hotel in downtown Aspen!

If you're tired of the cookie-cutter chain hotels, this is the place for you. This gorgeous little hotel in a historical 120+ year old building was home for us while on a recent visit to Aspen and I cannot praise it enough. Every suite (yes, each room is a complete suite, most of which include well-appointed kitchens) has its own...

  • Our little Ollie misses Charlie already

Thank you for the great stay and letting your little chinese crested play with our miniature Schnauzer. Watching them play was just as good as the skiing! The bed was really comfortable and location is perfect.

My girlfriend and I have been living in Aspen for 4 years now and recently stayed at The Residence Hotel for 2 months. This hotel is like nothing else!
